Finding that elusive Hobby caravan insurance

Finding Hobby caravan insurance isnt always easy.

The reason for that is, paradoxically, to do with the sheer quality and desirability of Hobby caravans.

Made in Germany, over many years they have developed a reputation for innovation, style and a quality manufacturing process, the result being that they have become an icon in some areas of caravanning.

Unfortunately, all these great attributes appeal to thieves as well as legitimate caravan owners. This may make this type of caravan particularly attractive to those that would like to acquire their own Hobby without going to the inconvenience of having to pay for it.

There is also another issue, which may make Hobby caravan insurance hard to find.

If the caravan is damaged in an accident, not only do parts have to be brought in from Germany but their quality means that they may be expensive compared to the parts of other broadly similar caravans.

For these two generic reasons, some insurers have traditionally refused to cover Hobby caravans.

This position has changed recently and it is now possible to find caravan insurance providers that will offer cover for Hobby caravans and at a realistic price.

There may be some additional conditions applied. For example, you may find that such cover is restricted to UK only use. There may also be very specific requirements relating to the use of additional security devices, such as trackers, wheel clamps and hitchlocks.

You may also find that there conditions that state where you can park your caravan when not in use during the closed season. It may be necessary to store it in a secure off-road location and not on the public highway.

In the scheme of things, these terms and conditions may appear to be relatively minor in comparison to some of the past frustrations when trying to find Hobby caravan insurance.
