Key points relating to cheap caravan insurance

If you are thinking about cheap caravan insurance, you may find the following observations to be of some use:

  • the word ‘cheap’ may mean different things to different people and what is cheap for someone else may not necessarily prove to be cheap for you it depends very much upon your individual situation;
  • caravan insurance that proclaims itself to be “cheap caravan insurance” may not necessarily be able to offer its headline low prices to you;
  • an insurance policy that offers the lowest price may not prove to be suitable for you this is typically not something you will wish to discover for the first time when you need to try and make a claim;
  • the obvious conclusion following on from the point above is that it is extremely important to study carefully what cover the policy is offering before you start to focus too closely on its price;
  • headline prices can be deceptive for example, some policies may appear to be marginally more expensive, in headline terms, but may offer greater opportunities for obtaining discounts through things such as becoming a member of an approved caravanning association (these may be known as caravan club insurance discounts);
  • to really understand the true potential costs of a policy, it may be necessary to study, in a little detail, those sections of the policy described as ‘the terms and conditions’ that is because some of them may place obligations on you, the policyholder, that you may find difficult to comply with;
  • it is typically a sound idea to focus initially on a combination of your requirements, the cover the policy is offering and its terms and conditions – parking, at least for a period, too much focus on headline claims that it constitutes “cheap caravan insurance”.
